Global warming and environmental protection are issues of paramount importance worldwide, especially for younger generations whose lives will be directly affected by the changes taking place on our planet.
In many countries, young people form vibrant communities, are actively involved in environmental debates and are important actors in social and political discourse.
In contrast, the situation is different in Hungary.
Research shows that the level of environmental awareness among young Hungarians (14-22 year olds) is very low. When it comes to global warming, many of them have only superficial information, and this is a cause for considerable concern.
This is partly due to the fact that there are currently few young activists, vloggers or influencers in our country who are specifically addressing this issue.
In Hungary there are nearly 200 environmental organisations, but their activities are less well known to the public. Most NGOs working on environmental issues lack visibility and often struggle with a lack of resources and community support.
Why is it important to involve young people?
The active involvement of young people is essential to develop effective environmental policies and promote social change.
The fresh perspectives and innovative ideas of young generations can contribute to creating a sustainable future.

Steps towards change
In order to increase environmental awareness and activism among young Hungarians, we need to:
- Educational programmes: Introduce school and university programmes that emphasise the importance of environmental protection.
- Media and communication: involving young vloggers and influencers to promote environmental awareness on social media.
- Community events: organising events and workshops on environmental issues to raise awareness and encourage participation of young people.
- Support and partnerships: supporting environmental organisations and working with government and the private sector.
We are currently preparing our first application to raise environmental awareness among young people.
Our aim is to raise awareness of the importance of global warming and the environment and to encourage young people to get actively involved.
The future of Hungary and the health of our planet is in the hands of today's young people. Now is the time to listen to them and support them in protecting the environment.
